'10 Cloverfield Lane' opened in cinemas around the world on this day in 2016. The second instalment in the Cloverfield franchise was directed by Dan Trachtenberg in his directorial debut and produced by J.J. Abrams.

The story follows a young woman, Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) who after being involved in a car accident finds herself being held captive in an underground bunker by a man called Howard (John Goodman) who tells her the world has been left uninhabitable by a hostile event.

The movie opened to positive reviews and was a success at the box office, earning $110 million worldwide on a budget of $15 million.
