'Alpha Dog' was released in theaters in the US on this day in 2007. Nick Cassavetes' film based on the true story of the kidnapping and murder of Nicholas Markowitz in 2000 has an ensemble cast that includes Ben Foster, Shawn Hatosy, Emile Hirsch, Christopher Marquette, Sharon Stone, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Willis, Anton Yelchin, Harry Dean Stanton, Olivia Wilde, Amber Heard and Amanda Seyfried,

The movie was first screened at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2006 but it's general release was delayed by a year when New Line Cinema requested edits to the film that Cassavetes didn't want to make and eventually sold it on to Universal Pictures.
