The premiere of Terence Mallick's 'Badlands' took place at the New York Film Festival on this day in 1973. Based on the real-life murder spree of Charles Starkweather and his girlfriend Caril Ann Fugate, the film made stars of Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek and inspired Bruce Springsteen to write his classic song 'Nebraska'.
