American-British actor Andrew Garfield was born on this day in 1983. Garfield began his acting career on stage before making his TV debut in 2005 in British TV teen series 'Sugar Rush'. Further TV work followed including roles in 'Doctor Who' in 2007 and the TV film 'Boy A' (2007) for which he won a BAFTA for Best Actor.

He made his film debut in 'Lions for Lambs' (2007) starring alongside Robert Redford, Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep. Garfield received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Eduardo Saverin in David Fincher's 'The Social Network' (2010) and earned both a BAFTA and Golden Globe nomination. International recognition followed when he starred in 'The Amazing Spider-Man' (2012) and 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' (2014). Other notable film credits include '99 Homes' (2014), 'Hacksaw Ridge' (2016). 'Silence' (2016) and 'Under the Silver Lake' (2018).
