English actor Benedict Cumberbatch was born on this day in 1976. The star of stage and screen achieved international recognition playing the master detective in the BBC TV series 'Sherlock' (2010 - 2017). Cumberbatch has received numerous accolades for his work including an Emmy award, a BAFTA and and an Olivier award.

The first of several appearances in the MCU franchise began when he played the title role in 'Doctor Strange' (2016).
