American actress Frances McDormand was born on this day in 1957. Her first screen appearance came in the Coen Brothers 1984 neo-noir crime drama 'Blood Simple' written and directed by husband Joel Coen and brother-in-law Ethan Coen.
She earned her first Academy Award nomination for her role in Alan Parker's 'Mississippi Burning' (1988) and won the Best Actress Oscar for her portrayal of pregnant Minnesota police chief Marge Gunderson in the Coen Brothers 'Fargo' (1996). Two further Best Actress Oscars followed for 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' (2017) and 'Nomadland' (2020). Happy Birthday Frances.
