English actress Jacqueline Bisset was born on this day in 1944. Her first screen role was an uncredited part in 'The Knack ...and How to Get It' (1965). She made her official debut in Polanski's 'Cul-de-sac' (1966) which in turn led to more prominent roles in 'Two for the Road' (1967) and 'Casino Royale' (1967). The following year she gained mainstream recognition when she starred opposite Frank Sinatra in 'The Detective' (1968) and Steve McQueen in 'Bullitt' (1968) as well as receiving a Golden Globe nomination for Most Promising Newcomer for her role in 'The Sweet Ride' (1968). The 1970s saw her appear in a number of major Hollywood productions including 'Airport' (1970), 'The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean' (1972) 'St Ives' (1976) and 'The Deep' (1977). She was also among the cast of the British whodunnit 'Murder on the Orient Express' (1974) and earned the respect of moviegoers and critics alike as a serious actress for her role in Francois Truffaut's 'Day for Night' (1973).
Later film credits include 'Rich and Famous' (1981), 'Class' (1983), 'Wild Orchid' (1989), 'La Ceremonie' (1995), 'Domino' (2005), 'The Last Film Festival' (2016), 'Madeleine Collins (2021) and 'Loren & Rose' (2022). In 2010 Jacqueline Bisset was awarded the Legion of Honour insignia with French President Nicolas Sarkozy describing her as "a movie icon" Happy Birthday Jacqueline.
