American actor and musician Jeff Goldblum was born on this day in 1952. Goldblum made his film debut as one of the home-invading thugs in ‘Death Wish’ (1974). Several more small roles followed including a one line part in ‘Annie Hall’ (1977) before landing more substantial supporting roles in ‘Invasion of the Body Snatchers’ (1978) and ‘The Big Chill’ (1983).

His breakthrough role came as Seth Brundle in David Cronenberg’s ‘The Fly’ (1986). The 1990s saw him co-star in two of the decades biggest blockbusters with ‘Jurassic Park’ (1993) and ‘Independence Day’ (1996). Other notable film credits include ‘Into the Night’ (1985), ‘Silverado’ (1985), ‘The Tall Guy’ (1989), ‘Deep Cover’ (1992), ‘Igby Goes Down’ (2002), ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’ (2014), ‘Hotel Artemis’ (2018) and ‘Asteroid City’ (2023).

More recently he has carved out a successful career as a jazz musician as well as continuing to maintain a high profile in film and TV. Happy Birthday Jeff.
