Chinese-born Singaporean actor, producer and martial artist Jet Li was born on this day in 1963. Li made his film debut with ‘Shaolin Temple’ (1982). The movie broke box office records in China and led to a sequel: ‘Kids From Shaolin’ (1984) which was also hugely successful. Other notable Chinese films include ‘Once Upon a Time in China’ (1991), ‘Fong Sai-yuk’ (1993), Fist of Legend’ (1994) and ‘High Risk’ (1995). 

Li made his international film debut with a support role to Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in ‘Lethal Weapon 4’ (1998) after producer Joel Silver promised him the lead role in his next film, ‘Romeo Must Die’ (2000). The movie was a commercial success with Li receiving praise for his performance. He went on to star opposite Jason Statham in 'The One' (2001) and Bridget Fonda in 'Kiss of the Dragon' (2001).

Other notable film credits include 'Hero' (2002), 'Cradle 2 the Grave' (2003), 'Unleashed' (2005), 'Fearless' (2006), 'War' (2007), 'The Warlords' (2007), 'The Forbidden Kingdom' (2008), 'The Expendables' film series (2010-2014) and 'Mulan' (2020). Happy Birthday Jet.
