English actress, singer and author Dame Julie Andrews was born in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, England on this day in 1935. She will be forever known as the star of 'Mary Poppins' (1964) and the 'Sound of Music' (1965).

Among her other notable film credits are 'The Americanization of Emily' (1964), 'Torn Curtain' (1966), 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' (1967), 'The Tamarind Seed' (1974), '10' (1979), 'S.O.B.' (1981), 'Victor/Victoria' (1982) and 'That's Life!' (1986).

More recently she has worked as an author of children's books as well as publishing two autobiographies. Happy Birthday Dame Julie.
