American actress, dancer, singer and choreographer Liza Minnelli was born on this day in 1946. Daughter of actress and singer Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli, her career began in musical theatre. She got her breakthrough screen role in Albert Finney’s ‘Charlie Bubbles’ (1967). Acclaimed roles followed in ‘The Sterile Cuckoo’ (1969) and ‘Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon’ (1970).

For her portrayal of Sally Bowles in ‘Cabaret’ (1972) she won the Academy Award for Best Actress as well as a Golden Globe and a BAFTA. Other notable screen credits include ‘Lucky Lady’ (1975), ‘New York, New York’ (1977), ‘Arthur’ (1981) and ‘Arthur 2: On the Rocks’ (1988). Happy Birthday Liza.
