American actor and producer Matthew McConaughey was born on this day in 1969. McConaughey came to prominence playing Wooderson in the cult classic ‘Dazed and Confused’ (1993). His breakthrough role as a leading man was in the legal drama ‘A Time to Kill’ (1996) which was followed by starring roles in a string of successful romantic comedies including ‘The Wedding Planner’ (2001), ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ (2003), ‘Failure to Launch’ (2006), ‘Fool’s Gold’ (2008) and ‘Ghosts of Girlfriends Past’ (2009).

After a two-year break from film acting he returned, now playing more serious dramatic roles in movies such as ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ (2011), ‘Killer Joe’ (2011), ‘Mud’ (2012), ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ (2013) and the biopic ‘The Dallas Buyers Club’ (2013) for which he won the Best Actor Academy Award for his extraordinary portrayal of Ron Woodroof, a cowboy diagnosed with AIDS.

Other notable film credits include ‘Interstellar’ (2014), ‘The Sea of Trees’ (2014), ‘Free State of Jones’ (2016), ‘Gold’ (2016), ‘The Dark Tower’ (2017) and ‘The Gentlemen’ (2019). Matthew McConaughey remains one of the most talented and versatile actors of his generation. Happy Birthday Matthew.
