Irish actor and film producer Pierce Brosnan was born on this day in 1953. Brosnan made his film debut with a minor role in 'The Long Good Friday' (1980), followed by an uncredited part in 'The Mirror Crack'd' (1980).
After moving to California he found fame playing the title role in the hit US TV show 'Remington Steele' (1982-1987) and went on to star in films including 'The Fourth Protocol' (1987), 'The Deceivers' (1988), 'The Lawnmower Man' (1992) and 'Mrs. Doubtfire' (1993).
In June 1994 it was announced that Brosnan would be the fifth actor to play James Bond. He made his 007 debut in 'Goldeneye' (1995) followed by three further outings as Bond in 'Tomorrow Never Dies' (1997), 'The World Is Not Enough' (1999) and 'Die Another Day' (2002).
Other notable film credits include 'Mars Attacks!' (1996), 'Dante's Peak' (1997), 'The Thomas Crown Affair' (1999), 'The Tailor of Panama' (2001), 'The Matador' (2005), 'Mama Mia!' (2008), 'The World's End' (2013), 'The Foreigner' (2017), 'Black Adam (2022) and 'The Last Rifleman' (2023).
