American actor and filmmaker Steve Buscemi was born on this day in 1957. Buscemi made his screen debut in 'The Way It Is' (1985). Small roles in film and TV followed, before he became an established and highly respected actor in the 1990s for his work with Quentin Tarantino in 'Reservoir Dogs' (1992) and most notably his collaborations with the Coen Brothers in 'Miller's Crossing' (1990), 'Barton Fink' (1991), 'The Hudsucker Proxy' (1994), 'Fargo' (1996) and 'The Big Lebowski' (1998).
He also appeared in the Hollywood blockbusters 'Con Air' (1997) and 'Armageddon' (1998). Buscemi made his directorial debut with 'Trees Lounge' (1996) which he also wrote and starred in. Other notable film credits include 'Living in Oblivion' (1995), 'Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead' (1995), 'Desperado' (1995), 'Ghost World' (2001), 'Big Fish' (2003), 'The Death of Stalin' (2017), ‘The Year Between’ (2022) and 'The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write About a Serial Killer' (2024).
