English actor and producer Tom Hardy was born on this day in 1977. Following his film debut as part of the ensemble cast in Ridley Scott's 'Black Hawk Down' (2001), Hardy mixed theatre and TV work with supporting roles in films including 'Layer Cake' (2004) and 'RocknRolla' (2008).
He received critical acclaim for his portrayal of the real-life English prisoner Charles Bronson, who spent most of his adult life in solitary confinement, in 'Bronson' (2008). International recognition came for the first of several collaborations with Christopher Nolan when he starred in 'Inception' (2010) for which he won a BAFTA rising star award.
