'Lethal Weapon 3' opened in theaters across North America on this day in 1992. The third instalment in the buddy cop franchise once again stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover as LAPD officers Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh.

Richard Donner once again takes the directorial reins as the duo team up with Leo Getz (Joe Pesci) and internal affairs sergeant Lorna Cole (Rene Russo) to pursue a ruthless arms dealer. The movie was a box office smash, earning $320 million at the box office which made it the second-most successful summer film of 1992 after 'Batman Returns'.
