Mad Max: Fury Road released

Following it's Australian and European release 24 hours previously, 'Mad Max: Fury Road' opened in theaters across North America on this day in 2015. The fourth instalment in George Miller's 'Mad Max' franchise stars Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult.

The movie was universally praised for its breathtaking action set-pieces and went on to gross $380.4 million at the box office, making it the highest-grossing 'Mad Max' film to date. A fifth movie, the prequel: 'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga', once again written and directed by Miller is set for release later this month.
