The American musical comedy-drama 'Going My Way' was released in the United States on this day in 1944. Directed by Leo McCarey and starring Bing Crosby, it tells the story of a young priest taking over a New York parish from an older pastor.

The movie was a  huge hit with audiences and went on to win several academy awards including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor.
