'Mission: Impossible - Fallout' was released in theaters across the United States on this day in 2018, following its premiere in Paris on July 12th. The sixth instalment in the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise was directed by Christopher McQuarrie, following on from 'Rogue Nation' (2015) making him the first director to direct more than one film in the series.

Tom Cruise returned once again as Ethan Hunt while Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, Michelle Monaghan and Alec Baldwin also reprised their roles from the previous films. Henry Cavill, Vanessa Kirby and Angela Bassett joined the franchise for the first time. The movie sees Hunt and his team tracking down missing plutonium while being monitored by the apostles after a mission goes wrong.
