The world premiere of 'Moonraker' was held at the Odeon Leicester Square in London on this day in 1979. The film was the eleventh in the James Bond series and the fourth to star Roger Moore.

The premiere was originally scheduled to be held in Houston, USA to coincide with the first launch of NASA's new space shuttle. When the space programme was delayed, (it would be another two years before the launch) Bond returned home to London.
