The premiere of 'Ocean's Eleven' took place at the Village Theater in Los Angeles on this day in 2001. Steven Soderbergh's heist comedy features an all star cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Elliott Gould, Andy Garcia and Bernie Mac.

The movie was given a wide release two days later and was a big box office success, grossing more than $450 million worldwide.

Two Soderbergh directed sequels followed; 'Ocean's Twelve' (2004) and 'Ocean's Thirteen' (2007) as well as a spin-off with an all-female lead cast; 'Ocean's Eight' (2018). 

A prequel starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling has begun shooting and is set for release in 2024.
