'Ocean's Eleven' opened in theaters across North America on this day in 2001. Steven Soderbergh's heist comedy features an all star cast including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Elliott Gould, Andy Garcia and Bernie Mac. The movie was a big box office success, grossing more than $450 million worldwide.

Two Soderbergh directed sequels followed: 'Ocean's Twelve' (2004) and 'Ocean's Thirteen' (2007) as well as a spin-off with an all-female lead cast: 'Ocean's Eight' (2018).

Clooney and Pitt have confirmed that they plan to reunite for a further instalment in the franchise: 'Ocean's Fourteen' and a prequel starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling is also said to be in the pipeline.
