The premiere of Guy Ritchie's 'Snatch' took place at the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square, London on this day in 2000. The follow up to 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' (1998) stars Brad Pitt, Jason Statham, Stephen Graham, Alan Ford, Lennie James, Benicio Del Toro, Dennis Farina, Vinnie Jones, Jason Flemyng and Goldie in a wildly entertaining story set in the London criminal underworld.

The plot involves a stolen diamond, bare-knuckle boxing, an ex-KGB agent, assorted gangsters, thieves and gamblers as well as a unique take on the benefits of pig farming!

The premiere was almost overshadowed by controversy when Brad Pitt was threatened with arrest by police fearful for crowd safety after the Hollywood star refused their advice to enter the cinema and persisted on a meet and greet with the thousands of fans gathered outside.
