The premiere of Martin Scorsese's 'The Departed' took place at the Ziegfield Theatre in New York on this day in 2006. The crime drama set in Boston and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg was a remake of the 2002 Hong Kong film 'Infernal Affairs'. 

The film was a critical and commercial success and went on to win four Academy Awards at the 79th Academy Awards Ceremony including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film Editing. It is to date Scorsese's only win for Best Director.
