The Departed wins four Oscars

'The Departed' scooped four Oscars at the 79th Academy Awards ceremony on this day in 2007. Martin Scorsese’s epic crime drama won for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film Editing.

It was Scorsese’s first and to date only Oscar win having been nominated five times previously. Mark Wahlberg was also nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award but lost out to Alan Arkin for his performance in ‘Little Miss Sunshine’.
