'The Impossible' was released in the US on this day in 2013. Based on the experiences of María Belón and her family in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, J.A. Bayona's film stars Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor and Tom Holland making his film debut.

The movie was a hit at the box office and received a positive reception from the critics with Watts going on to get Academy and Golden Globe Award nominations.
