'The Lost Boys' opened in theaters across the US on this day in 1987. Joel Schumacher’s dark comedy horror film starring Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland and Jason Patrick was a critical and commercial success, grossing $32.2 million off a budget of $8.5 million. 

The movie went on to spawn a franchise that includes two sequels: ‘Lost Boys: The Tribe’ (2008) and ‘Lost Boys: The Thirst’ (2010) as well as two comic book series.
