'The Town' was released in theaters in the USA and Canada on this day in 2010. Ben Affleck's follow up to his directorial debut 'Gone Baby Gone' (2007) is based on Chuck Hogan's 2004 novel 'Prince of Thieves' and follows a gang of bank robbers in Boston out to do one last job.

When crew member Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck) falls in love with hostage Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall) things get complicated as both the police and his own accomplices start to close in.

'The Town' received praise from the critics for Affleck's direction and its casts performances with Jeremy Renner being nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and Pete Postlethwaite getting a posthumous BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
