'True Grit' opened in theaters in the US on this day in 2010. For the Coen Brothers remake of the 1969 film of the same name, Jeff Bridges took the reigns from John Wayne to play boozy trigger-happy "Rooster" Cogburn. 

The movie was a critical and commercial success with Bridges, Hailee Steinfeld and Matt Damon receiving plaudits for their performances.
