Tony Scott's 'True Romance' opened in theaters in North America on this day in 1993. Based on a script by Quentin Tarantino, Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette play newlyweds on the run from the mob after stealing a shipment of drugs. An ensemble cast includes Gary Oldman, Dennis Hopper, Brad Pitt, Christopher Walken, James Gandolfini, Tom Sizemore, Chris Penn, Samuel L. Jackson and Val Kilmer.

The movie was initially unsuccessful at the box-office but went on to earn a cult following and is now regarded as not only one of Tony Scott's best films but one of the greatest films of the 1990s.
