'Wall Street' opened in theaters in the US on this day in 1987. Oliver Stone's drama stars Charlie Sheen as ambitious young stockbroker Bud Fox who becomes involved with ruthless and unscrupulous corporate raider Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas).

A scathing depiction of 1980s excess, the movie was a critical and commercial success with Douglas winning the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of the greedy and amoral Gekko. Stone and Douglas reunited in 2010 for a sequel; 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps'.
