'What Ever Happened to Baby Jane' opened in theaters in the United States on this day in 1962. Robert Aldrich's psychological thriller, based on the novel of the same name by Henry Farrell, stars Bette Davis as aging former child star "Baby Jane" Hudson and Joan Crawford as the paraplegic sister she torments in their decaying Hollywood mansion.

The movie opened to mixed reviews but was a success at the box office as well as revitalizing the careers of its two stars with Davis receiving her tenth and final Academy Award nomination for best actress.
